The news.bbc.co.uk magazine is reporting that it's really pirates that are killing music.


 

No, really? Organised crime is, well, more organised than internet downloaders? What a surprise.


 

Quick, someone tell boring old fart Mike Oldfield, who blames downloading (and comes out with a ludicrous '50% drop in sales' figure). Maybe if you didn't keep remixing Tubular Bells people would actually pay for your shit, you gimp.


 

Meanwhile, Paul Morley talks about the shift from 7" vinyl to digital music, and Owen Gibson thinks "downloading is music's saviour", if only the industry grasps it.


 

Mentioned in passing in Gibson's piece is the future of Top of the Pops. There's much handwringing about digital, Radio 1 and MTV in the Media Guardian today.
