Sven mentions that British petrol stations don't sell petrol in gallons. Well, not any more, they don't.
As recently as the turn of the 90s, though, they did. I'm sure most Britons still think as easily in terms of gallons as they do in terms of litres, for petrol certainly. (We also measure road distances in miles still, annoyingly.
Speed limits are in mph too.)
