For those of us who don't care, what does this particular tediously-named piece of Apple suckage actually do?

blech:

hitherto: it lets you take a playlist, upload it to the iTMS, have it reject the songs that aren't available, then share it with friends.

You share them with horrible URLs that look like they go to a website but which instead spawn iTunes. (Why not use an itms:// protocol, huh?)

Of course, being poor Europeans, we've not been able to use iMix properly before now.

Now we can, it's possible to see just how much it sucks.

There's no way, when viewing an iMix, to see who created it.

There's no way to search iMixes, either by creator or by iMix name.

In fact, the only way to find them is to hope that they bubble to the "top rated" section, or to look at the "most recent", or by sharing those awful URLs.

Of course, the fact that you can only really see the top rated iMixes leads to the typical process that once you're popular, you stay popular.

Oh yes, you can't delete an iMix once it's published either, although given how hard it is to find, that's not much of a problem. Deletion through obscurity, anyone?

Bah. Big old waste of time, it is.

At least iTunes seems to be remembering the column view settings across iMixes and albums.

Oh no, it's not. Sigh.

Ah, my mistake. iTunes (the app) retains two view settings preferences for the store; one for CDs and another for iMixes. Which is odd, but at least it remembers each of them.
