2lmc's divided on this. Personally, I think it's a bit ugly. The expanse of white plastic under the display is going to grate.


 

I suppose it's nice and cheap, and a G5 in a consumer machine is nice. (The portable lines are going to start comparing really badly, though.)

I quite like it, although I agree with others that it seems hardware-failure prone (a lot of heat in a small space)


blech:

Moving to a widescreen 17" display as the absolute minimum is quite nice too.

Reminds me of LCD TVs - you could hang that on the wall i feel


 

Actually, could be quite a shiny cyber-cafe that did that

Mind you, am I the only person to recall what Jobs said when they launched the last new iMac?


 

"Each element has to be true to itself," Jobs told Ive. "Why have a flat display if you're going to glom all this stuff on its back? Why stand a computer on its side when it really wants to be horizontal and on the ground? Let each element be what it is, be true to itself."

 

Now we have an iMac which is, er, a flat display with stuff glommed onto its back.
