Mac OS X 10.4.6 update

Complete with all the bug fixes you need.

Resolves an issue in which Blizzard World of Warcraft character graphics could be distorted on an Intel-based Mac with a built-in graphics processor when vertex shaders are enabled.

Of course, fixing WoW bugs is a high priority at the new Intel-enabled games-friendly post-Avie Apple.

Thankfully, they also found time to fix some other things too.

Makes Mac OS X aware of United States Daylight Savings Time (DST) changes enacted by the Energy Policy Act of 2005.

Of course, that leaves us 10.3 laggards stuffed. Well, it does if we're in the US and still not upgraded in a year.

Updates Calculator so that the percentage button ("%") will no longer divide, under certain circumstances, when you expect it to calculate percentage

That one was always a bit embarrasing, yes.

As was this SMB doozy:

You can now copy folders with files to an SMB-based server instead of only the folder being copied

That's kind of core functionality for file sharing, isn't it? Ho hum.

The:

Wow. A World first

Aperture will no longer unexpectedly quit when exporting a file with keywords that contain twelve or more Cyrillic characters.

Baffling. Why twelve? Why Cyrillic? Why not ten? Why not Japanese? And why do Aperture's keywords have anything to do with a Mac OS X update?

Meanwhile, iSync has made it up to version 2.2, complete with a convoluted upgrade process.

Oh, and it now supports about two extra phones. I don't see the N70 there, for example.

ChrisDodo:

I guess this is the exclusive exciting launch for Apple's 30th birthday that everyone was going on about.

Or even Pocket PCs and Windows Smartphones.

blech:

Windows support? On a Mac? Are you insane?

ChrisDodo:

Even standards based synching (like SyncML) would be a step in the right direction.

blech:

Would it be helpful to note Missing Sync here? Probably not.

ChrisDodo:

This is one third party app I wouln't mind Apple copying feature for feature.

Maybe 10.5 will do all the stuff they promised in 10.4.

Note that the iSync device support page has now been updated; includes support for Nokia 8800, N70 and N90.

blech:

That rather sinks my previous point, then.

Just so I can keep grumbling, a diff and/or "you need this version" list would be nice.
