As I stated after jerakeen and muttley had stated their ideas on here earlier, I think jerakeen's idea hangs together better (or maybe he just explains it more clearly).
muttley:
I suspect so. He seems to be describing exactly what I have in my brain
this should make it easy to write an interface to Movable Type
except for the fact that you can't seem to post comments using it

I still think this is a non-idea. Every discussion I see on this goes basically "hey we could merge $tech1 and $tech2." "But they wouldn't merge that well. What about $problem1?" "Well, we could come up with $really_nasty_hack1 to fix that."
What's the damn point? Why not solve problems that are ACTUALLY PROBLEMS? Huh?
jerakeen:
this article has a very nifty article id

Giles has previous had thoughts on the subject, too.
And I do think that given how unutterably crap most mailing list archivers are, a weblog is a better way of presenting the conversation.
although probably not if it drifts as much as your average (void) thread.
hitherto:
Or contains as much drivel as your average blog.
jerakeen:
I think something we /can/ all agree on is that we need a better web mail archive thingy.
blech:
hitherto: or your average (void) thread?

I don't agree with that. Too much content is archived on the web already. The entire thing should be deleted. The whole lot of it. Every last piece of pestilent data removed from the human realm forever.
But I'm tetchy right now.

Something like that, anyway.
